Williamson Memorial’s comprehensive laboratory is dedicated to providing accurate results in a timely manner to our patients and physicians. We work around the clock, seven days a week collecting, testing, evaluating, and reporting results that will better able your physician to treat your healthcare needs.  

The Joint Commission accredits Williamson Memorial Hospital Laboratory. The Joint Commission evaluates the laboratory’s performance in complying with nearly 300 standards related to quality control, safety, infection control, leadership, management of human resources, management of information, ongoing performance improvement activities, and many other issue. Achieving and maintaining this accreditation demonstrates the laboratory staff’s commitment to providing high quality services. The laboratory is staffed with a certified Medical Director, five certified Medical Technologists, twelve certified Medical Laboratory Technicians, and eight certified Phlebotomists. 

The Williamson Memorial’s laboratory contains ten departments to meet your needs.  

  • Phlebotomy is the collection of blood from a patient.
  • Clinical Chemistry analyzes blood and body fluids for many different components including test such as glucose or cholesterol.
  • Transfusion Services provides storage of life-saving blood and blood products. Testing in this department includes blood types, antibody detection, and blood compatibility.
  • Coagulation is the evaluation of the process of clot formation, and is use to monitor coumadin or heparin therapy.
  • Hematology is the evaluation of blood cells.
  • Histopathology examines specimens and tissue to determine the presence or absence of disease such as cancer.
  • Serology detects the presence or absence of antigens or antibodies to current virus or illness. RSV and Mono would be sample of the test perform in Serology
  • Urinalysis involves the chemical and microscopic analysis of urine.
  • Microbiology involves bacterial growth, and the treatment need to destroy illness-causing bacteria.
  • Drug Screen. We can meet your entire drug screening needs. All employees are trained to collect DOT and non DOT drug screens. 

A physicians order is required for all service, excluding drug screen collection. If you have and question please contact the lab at ext. 128 or 129.
